Pathology, which derives from the Greek ancient word pathología (παθολογία) meaning “the study of suffering”, has its origins in ancient times, over a span of 4,000 years, and laid the foundations of medicine. The study of the history of pathology throughout the centuries not only reveals information on the evolution of diseases, but also gives us a better understanding of the evolution of medicine and its future.
