Dr Mark Earley qualified from the University of Bristol in 1993, trained in cardiology in London and was appointed consultant at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in 2006. He is an electrophysiologist and his particular interests are the management of atrial fibrillation, catheter ablation and stroke prevention including left atrial appendage occlusion.
He has a keen interest in research with 39 journal publications since 2019 and ongoing projects at St Bartholomew’s looking at the mechanisms of AF. He is a leader in medical education and accreditation of consultants, previously chair of the European Heart Rhythm Association certification committee. He has just stepped down as clinical director of arrhythmia services at the Barts Heart Centre and was council member of both the British Heart Rhythm Society and the Resuscitation Council UK.

Dr. Caroline J. Magri graduated in Medicine & Surgery from the University of Malta in 2004. During her training in Cardiology, she spent a one-year clinical fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy whereby she worked in the Catheterisation Laboratory with expert operators, including Dr. Antonio Colombo. In 2013, she obtained Master in Interventional Cardiology at Universita’ Vita-Salute, San Raffaele. In July 2016, she successfully completed Master course in Cardiology at the University of Brighton with a Distinction; the thesis entitled, “Long-term Outcome following Contemporary STAR technique for the treatment of Chronic Total Occlusions” was performed under guidance of Dr. Mauro Carlino. In 2018, she obtained her PhD from the University of Malta with the title, “Cardiovascular Disease & Atherosclerosis: Novel Risk Factors & Predictors”. She is currently Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Research Support Lead at Mater Dei Hospital Malta, a Visiting Senior Lecturer at the University of Malta and Reader in Cardiology at Queen Mary University of London, Malta.
