Interventional Cardiology

Venue: Queen Mary University of London, Malta Campus (Gozo) and Mater Dei Hospital (Malta)

The Masterclass in Interventional Cardiology developed by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London, Malta Campus provides unique access to the latest evidence in relation to both structural and coronary interventional cardiology. Lectures will be complemented by both challenging cases as well as live cases, to enhance applicability of the course to everyday clinical practice at the Cardiac Catheterisation Suite.

Both resident cardiologists as well as fellows/ trainees in cardiology will benefit from the course. The course will be held in person to ensure active participation of all attendees. The course will run for seven hours a day for five consecutive days, thus allowing time for attendees to visit the Maltese Islands.

About the Course

The Masterclass in Interventional Cardiology will focus on the latest evidence with regards to TAVI, TEER, LAAODs, ASD and PFO closure, as well as left ventricular assist devices.

Sessions on coronary interventions, the topics that will be covered include

  • complex PCIs such as (L) main PCI as well as bifurcation lesions,
  • the use of both imaging and physiological measurements in the Cardiac Catheterisation Suite,
  • current evidence in relation to renal denervation,
  • drug eluting balloons as well as bioabsorbable scaffolds.

      All these topics will be supplemented by challenging cases to ensure applicability of the course content in everyday practice.

    Who is the course for?

    The course is suitable for Resident Cardiologists and Cardiology Trainees/Fellows.

    Course Format

    This course is face-to-face. The curriculum will be covered in a ‘taught course’ over five consecutive days. Teaching will be in the form of lectures and Live Cases from an international faculty.

    At the end of the course the successful candidate will receive a certificate of completion of “Interventional Cardiology” from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London, Malta Campus.

    Programme

    The five-day full-time programme will run on consecutive days between 8.30am and 3.30pm (GMT+1) Monday to Thursday and between 9.30am and 4.30pm (GMT +1) on the fifth day.

      • Day 5: Queen Mary University of London, Malta Campus on the island of Gozo, Malta
